On this day, seventy-six years ago, democracy returned and the Pearl of the Orient was finally liberated from years of torment. Standing courageously as the main line of resistance, the Filipino troops forced General Tomoyuki Yamashita and his army to surrender, ending the Japanese occupation in the country. 🕊
